| Sam Loxton given Honorary Life Membership |
Member of the 1948 Invicibles, and club legend Sam Loxton was yesterday awarded Honorary Life Membership to the Runaway Bay Cricket Club and Southport Labrador Cricket clubs in an award presentation of the annual Sam Loxton Shield trophy at Runaway Bay. An avid supporter of both clubs, Sam was awarded life membership after years of dedication and support of the clubs, where he is a regular visitor and can be seen in the "Sam's Corner" location at the Runaway Bay Cricket Club. Both Runaway Bay president Travis Harker and Southport Labrador Vice President Dean Johnson both spoke about the time Sam has spent with both clubs, and were both very grateful of the support he has provided the clubs over the years. During the presentation, both clubs announced the presentation of the Sam Loxton Shield, a trophy awarded to the winner of each game between the first grade teams from both clubs, starting with the current round's game. Long time friend of Sam Ray "Sulli" Sullivan also donated both clubs a picture of the legend to be put on display at the club. For pictures of the award ceremony, head to the Photo Gallery. |
