Junior Results for Saturday 16th of October and coach’s comments
Under 10’s played Southport Labrador at Sam Loxton Oval 2. Runaway Bay batted first and scored 92 off 20 overs. Southport Labrador scored 130 off 20 overs on cold and windy day. It was great to finally get the kids on the park and have a hit after a wet start to the season. A good time was had by all.
Under 11’s were washed out and will play a one day game this week, if the rain dancers are finished. The team is very excited about getting on the field.
Under 13’s played Broadbeach Robina at Broadbeach. Dean Le Jeune was selected as Captain for our first game of the season. Dean lost the toss and we were asked to bowl. Considering the amount of rain leading up to game time, the ground was in amazingly dry condition. As the grass was also fairly long and the wind was swirling, we were not displeased about bowling first. Stephen Davoren kept wickets until first drinks break as the Broadbeach Robina batsman were steady until losing their first wicket at 52. At the end of their allotted 50 overs Broadbeach were 7 for 218. Nick Cotter was bowling hand grenades and treated with great respect. Nick bowled 6 overs finishing with 2 for 19. Luke Johnson, Joel Moar, Sam Whitelock and Tom Bromley also bowled with good results. Dean captained very well for his first time and both he and Stephen Davoren were nothing less than brilliant behind the stumps. Next Saturday we have a very gettable target from 50 overs. Running between the wickets will be a big key to our success.
Under 14’s were washed out against Tamborine and will play a one day game this week at home. Good luck guys.
Under 15’s we washed out against Southport / Burleigh at Morrie Glassman Oval. Hopefully the boys will get their first run on the turf this week in a one day game.
