In the battle of the Bay on Sunday, a 7 a side game saw Navy bat first, with Davy Baird making up for the day before by hitting a huge 91, supported by Brendon Hillier (23) and Shane Stephens (17), finishing at 7/172.
However in a huge upset, Orange not only surpassed that total but gave our competition frontrunners a hiding, with Harro coming back to smash an unbeaten 55, and Ash hitting 73 before being run out. Orange finishing an upset victory cashing the runs down with 12 overs still to bat.

Orange took on Palm Beach at Mallawa and again got off to a good start with an early wicket, however solid partnerships from each of the Palmy players saw them finish at 8/131 off their 35 overs. Standout bowlers were Marto (3/8 off 7 overs) and Allan Grant (3/28 off 7).
Chasing a good sized total, our run chase never really got off the ground, with only 2 scores over 10 (Ash Curtis 12 and Marto an unbeaten 14), and we eventually finished on 68, falling 63 runs short

Navy took on Helensvale, and batted first, looking good at 1/53 after losing Davy Baird in the first over. Runs to Micky Manns (35), Brendon Hillier (13) and Kai McMahon (15) were the shining light in an innings that finished at 92 off 24 overs.
Defending a small total, we went out and bowled very tight and the results came out way. Frenchy, Micky Manns and Cookie each taking 2 wickets, with Craig Young coming in late taking 4/16 to roll Helensvale for 57, a 35 run win for our boys.

Our Orange boys took on Helensvale at Pac Pines High School this week, and it was a batting paradise for the hawks, finishing at 6/222 off their 35 overs. With not many chances, Matty Clarkson was a stand out with 3/40 off his 7 overs. The run chase began promisingly, with Allan Grant and Ash Curtis putting on a 110 run partnership for the first wicket, Allan hitting 63 and Ash hitting 69. Unfortunately that’s where the highlights reel ended, with Sundries being the next highest score of 19, and Steve Clarkson hitting 10. Our boys were bowled out for 179, 43 runs short of their target.

Navy took on Queens this week, and bowling first our boys were on top very early. Having them 4/21, and eventually bowled out for 107, the wickets were spread across all of the bowlers, Justin French the pick with 2/11 off 7 overs, and Craig Young with 1/11 off 5. Defending a small total is always tough, and our boys struggled in the end to make the target of 109. 27 to Brendon Hillier and 30 to Shane Stephens saved the day, with our boys hitting the winning runs with 1 wicket left.

This week, the Orange team had a bye, leaving the Navy team to fly the flag against Southport Labrador at Cooke Murphy 2. Batting first our boys started brilliantly, with Justin Lewis (17) and David Baird (49) getting things started. Kai McMahon hit 14 after hitting a ball into the creek, and Gareth Roberts hit a quick 25. Brendon Hillier (23) and Paul Saunderson (15 not out) finished things off, our boys making 9/163 off their 35 overs.
The boys then bowled very well, with Kai McMahon ripping through the top order picking up 3/25 off his 7 overs. Southport Labrador then fought back however David Cook (3/30 off 7) and Craig Young (2/30 off 7) quickly put things to bed. In the end we won by 43 runs, bowling them out for 120 with 5 overs to go.

Our Navy 4th Graders took on Burleigh Heads at Sam Loxton 3 this week with our boys bowling first, and things were tight between the two teams early. Micky Manns and Paul Saunderson both picked up one wicket each, however the damage was done later in the innings when Kai McMahon came on to bowl, picking up 4/19 off his 7 overs, eventually restricting Burleigh to 118.
Batting was just as tight early, with a few quick wickets saw us at 2/27, and then 6/71, with both Wade Gwynne and Priyal Premadasa hitting 14 each. However a steadying hand from Kai McMahon (37 not out) and Paul Saunderson (10 not out) saw our boys claw things back, overcoming the small total with 1 over to go, finishing 7/122.

This week our Orange 4th Graders took ok Queens at Southport Primary, bowled first and had Queens on the ropes, but a partnership of 70 from the middle order saw them jump out to the lead. Great bowling performances from Justyn Martin (3/30 off 7) and Matty Clarkson (4/28 off 7) brought things back, Queens finishing on 170.
Our boys then started well with Martin Laird hitting 20, but then falling apart after that. Scores of 6, 2, 6, 4, 0 and 1 were broken by an unbeaten 51 from Marto, with the boys falling well short of the mark with 109 off 30 overs.
